I think that it is very important to do college essays. Not only does it help you for college, but in a way it helps you understand more about yourself and lets you go deep in you. You discover things that you never knew such as how something affected you, how well you did at a sports event or how something you do in life affects you. In my own experience, my uncle died two years ago and I feel like I've been fine not thinking about him making me upset. Yet once I reread the paper, I started to feel everything I felt when I discovered he was died. It showed me that I'm not over that fact that hes dead and that I am without him. It is helping me try to understand how I feel and I have a feeling that this will take a while until I have finally visit his grave. But the point is that no one should just not do a paper just because the school they are going to doesn't need one but to do one to go deeper with themselves.
I do think College Essays are important to write and will help you move on to college and into the future. I do like colleges having essays but I do not think it is a good to choose a student based on there essay. College essys are good to improve your writing skills and to look deeper in yourselves as you stated. In your experince writing helped and it can help write your feelings on paper, and this can be included in college essayes. College essays are good but I dont feel you should choose a student based on it.
